TW200 Maintenance Blog 1

My 2017 TW200 is going through yet another top end overhaul because of faulty oil galley gaskets. I highly recommend if you need new gaskets, to either use OEM gaskets from the factory, or gaskets from a reputable manufacturer. In the mean time, while my head is at the machine shop getting assembled, i decided to look at the headlight assembly, which was not turning on when I turned the key for the bike on. The assembly some how was unplugged, so I plugged it back in, and tapped it down with electrical tape. My “dashboard light” assembly, for the all of three indicator lights (Neutral, high beam, and turn signals) weren’t lighting up. It turns out all three bulbs are dead, so I’m going to replace them with LED’s. The casing for the “dashboard” is also cracked, so I’m going to super glue it to see if that can reassemble it. I’m also thinking about switching out my milk crate on my back rack for a bigger one, and possibly even modifying how I mount the crate to the back rack. Right now I’m using bungie chords, but I’m not really a fan of that method. I used threadlocker on all of the bolts that I took off.

Overall, tonight was successful.

  1. Diagnosed headlight issue (It was unplugged).
  2. Diagnosed dashboard lights. They need to be replaced with LED’s.
  3. Attempted to fix dashboard casing with super-glue.
  4. Disassembled back rack crate.
  5. Applied thread locker on all bolts that were unbolted from the motorcycle.
