A couple of minor events occurred over the last few days. For one, the Blazer is finally no longer in my possession. I finally started organizing the rats nest of tools and motorcycle parts in my basement, and began creating labels and manifests for everything. Finally, I acquired two pistols: A Smith and Wesson 38 Special snub nosed revolver, and a Heritage Manufacturing .22LR singal action revolver. With Measure 114 being passed in Oregon, I decided not to wait on purchasing two revolvers, which I do not have as much experience with as I do other firearms. The Heritage is just like any othe rsingle action .22, which I intend on getting a .22 WinMag cylinder for small game hunting. I really enjoy shooting smaller single actions, as they tend to have extremely crisp trigger pulls, and are exceptionally accurate. They’re great to to train new shooters on, as the gun is designed to basically have no recoil. A friend of mine purchased a similar .22 pistol action about a year ago, and she has really enjoyed shooting it.
As for the Smith and Wesson, I intend to carry it with me when I go for runs. It’s an incredibly lightweight revolver, the frame is aluminum and the only steel part that has any heft is the 5 round cylinder. I’m proficient with pistols, but I am a little apprehensive about shooting a gun so small with a round that is fairly substantial relative to the overall size. The barrel is a scant 2 inches, and the lighweight means that there will be recoil. I normally carry a semi-auto, and am used to having at least one extra reload on me. However, I figured that this revolver would be great for running, as it’s lightweight, and if I ever needed to shoot someone, I would definitely want to run to a safe place rather than stick around. 5 rounds is more than plenty, and likely I won’t even need to fire a shot. I don’t anticipate needing to make any long shots with this, and my target distance at most is going to be about 15-20 feet. Again, this is the absolute maximum distance.
Overall, the last few days have been a positive for me.
