For Christmas and New Years, I spent most of my time in central Oregon. For Christmas, I spent the day with my father. After Christmas, I took a day to go skiing up and Hoodoo, near Sisters, and spent the rest of my vacation out past Prineville, at a cabin my friends and I rented. The cabin we rented was a fairly ritzy/bougie place. Originally we were supposed to have 7 people stay there, 3 couples, and myself. However, 2 of the couples bailed on us at the last moment, so it myself and Zhuul, and his girlfriend, Stephanie (Stephano). We had some great meals together, great conversation, and explored a good chunk of the area. We made a trip over to the Painted Hills, and stargazed at night, as the area has some of the lowest levels of light pollution in the continental United States. I would love nothing more than to find a piece of land somewhere out there, and call it my own homestead. Below are just some pictures of the area, and a few of the meals we shared together.
The group I went skiing with up at Hoodoo. I’m in the back, on the rightside, 2 to the left, wearing the helmet and goggles. I’m not one for pictures, but they insisted I be included.
Some goofing around on the slopes.
The weather was fairly dry and sunny. It did snow a little bit, as you will see further down. However, this is the weather for the first few days I was at the cabin. The reservoir is pretty low, but that’s common for this time of year. There were ducks and geese that would land, and we would watch them with our binoculars.
One thing I love about Oregon is that there’s really nowhere you can go without seeing some beautiful vista. It’s like a postcard in every direction.
These two pictures are of the cabin, and a smaller rental unit on the same property.
The Painted Hills. They are a sight to see. I’d highly recommend taking the time to see them if you ever get the opportunity.
Our New years Eve dinner. We had steak, lobster, salad, some great wine, and some great company.
New Years day. It’s a Christmas Miracle!
New Years Day Breakfast. Zhuul and Stephano made a rich Dutch Baby. Complete with cream cheese, and salmon.
The last few pictures taken this morning before I left. I would not mind returning here. Cheers to a great start to 2025, and cheers to those who spent time with me these last few days.
